K9 Alert has worked as advertised. The remote control is good. The range of the sensor is longer that I thought, facing it 30deg down still gives 8 meters range for an approaching pedestrian. Battery life for speaker and sensor is good so far. I've had 2 visitors so far ask where I bought it.

I like that it does not need Wi-Fi and comes with a remote control. It is not a full security system, but for extra peace of mind it does the job well.
It makes the approach sound occupied. The receiver barks at up to 110 dB the moment the sensor detects movement, and opportunistic offenders tend to choose properties that seem empty and unwatched. Count the ways someone would actually approach: most houses need the front and back (2-Zone); add a third for a side gate, shed or garage (3-Zone). A single shed, garage or driveway is usually a 1-Zone job. You can add sensors later — one receiver takes up to 8.
No. The sensor talks to the receiver directly by radio — no Wi-Fi, app account, hub or monthly fee. On batteries it keeps working through power and internet outages.
Any PIR motion sensor can be triggered by an animal. Mount the sensor 50–80 cm up, angled slightly down and across the path, so cats and small dogs usually pass under the detection cone; keep it off routes pets use all day, and disarm with the remote when larger dogs are out.
