Quick setup

The four checks that matter most.

Use these steps with the video above before fixing the sensor into position.

1

Power the receiver

Use the USB cable or receiver batteries. Start near the sensor for the first test, then move it inside once the trigger works.

2

Power the sensor

Insert the sensor batteries and check the status light. Keep the sensor loose until you confirm the detection angle.

3

Walk across the path

Move across the sensor's view rather than straight at it. The receiver should respond quickly when the detection zone is right.

4

Mount and arm

Fix the sensor in a sheltered position, then use the remote to arm, disarm or trigger SOS without walking past the sensor.

Placement

Good placement beats loud volume.

The sensor is the part that decides when K9-Alert reacts. Aim it at the approach path, not at heat, direct sun or public foot traffic.

Good starting positions

  • Front door under a porch or eave
  • Garage entrance, carport or covered driveway point
  • Shed doorway or side gate with shelter from rain
  • Shop entry where the sensor sees the approach before the door

Adjust if it false triggers

  • Move away from direct sunlight, heaters and air-conditioner vents
  • Aim across the path, not directly at moving trees or public footpaths
  • Raise and tilt slightly downward if small animals trigger it
  • Keep the sensor sheltered; do not place it in direct rain
